Evaluation question 7-

These are the preliminary tasks that I created at the beginning of this proses.
I used publisher to create this College magazine as I had never used programs such as photoshop before and my knowledge of other technology was really limited.
Looking back at my work I feel my standard of work has improved massively and my preliminary task was very amateur.

I have used photoshop on my music magazine which I believe has helped improve the quality of the product.I feel that it is evident when looking at my final product that I have researched magazines thoroughly and that I have looked at professional magazines to help me develop my ideas.

I have learnt a lot through making my music magazine.
I have became aware of how important photography is when creating a magazine. The way the model is presented can give the audience a impression for example if your model is posing it shows her confidence.To help me solve this problem I decided to take more lots of photos so that I could have more options when creating my product.
The layout of text and sell lines became just as important as I wanted to have my sell lines positioned in a way that allowed the reader to be attracted and simple to read.This is shown through the main sell lines on my cover I have positioned them in the left hand side of the page, under the masthead which allows the cover to look more professional.Looking back at my college magazine I realise that the sell lines I used did not sell the story as they where only one word,I feel that my music magazine sell lines are intriguing and interesting to a potential reader.

The contents page I created for my College magazine was very basic,it lacked colour and personality which made it look dull and unattractive.I feel that my contents page for my music magazine is much more appealing to a potential reader.The colours used are eye catching,I have included lots of photos which help illustrate what the story is about.The layout is also much better as I have split the story's up into sections(Features,Reviews and Extras.)This makes the contents page essayer to read and more understandable,it is also a feature of lots of professional music magazines.

 In conclusion I have learnt lots since the start of this project and feel that my music magazine is a large improvement from my preliminary task and I am very proud of my efforts.

What have you learnt about technology?

I have also learnt how to use programs such as Animoto a website that has  helped me create videos and prezi a website that I have used for presentatinations both have me helped make my blog media rich.
Overall I feel that I have learnt to use a lot of different technology which I feel has helped improve my standard of work but will also benefit me in the future.I think that as a result of doing this project I am more adventurous with technology.

Evaluation question 5-

I have included more than one genre of  story with in my magazine as I feel this allows my product to appeal to a wider audience.I know this though feedback I have received that states my target audience enjoy music of more than one genre.
I have split my contents into sections which allows me to target individuals through individual storeys within the magazine.
I have used real music artists names within my magazine as I thought it would help make my magazine more realistic.I think that the fact I have used a mix of old and new artists allows my product to appeal to more than one age group.

Evaluation question 4-

my target audience would be 16+ both Male and Female most of them will probably be in education or working in lower to middle class jobs.Their lifestyle would involved them doing lots of things with their friends.They would enjoy music and would probably spend their time socialising ,listening to music and reading magazines.They would also spend alto of time on the Internet and social networking sites. music would play a large part in there life,When they have money they would probably spend it on going out to gigs,festivals and going to pubs,bars or house party's.They would like modern music and music that is in the top 40 because they like to be current and up to date but would probably appreciate a wider
 range of music through watching videos on you tube,
downloading on Itunes etc.This group would probably
 go to the cinema on discount nights to see popular
movies that are out such as horrors and epic films.
I think that my target audience would watch alot of
music channels on T.V. and watch shows like
X Factor and celebrity juice.

Evaluation question 3

Bauer Media:produce many magazine including music magazines.
For example Q magazine which inspired me allot through this proses.I believe that my magazine could be compared to magazines such as Q as it has a wide range of genres and therefore appeals to a wider audience.
Bauer Media also produce magazines such as MOJO,Kerrang and NME
therefore I believe Bauer Media to be the best institution to produce my magazine.



My product would stand out from the other music magazines as its not a typical music magazine It has more that one genre and is aimed at a wider range of people.However I have noticed that Q magazine shares the same colour palette as my magazine.I have took Influence from the models pose on Q magazine and when dressing my model I took influence from there Madonnas makeup on Q magazine,in particular her dark eyebrows and red lips.I believe that because they look similar people will recognise my product will be encouraged to purchase the magazine.They will appreciate the  
similarities and differences between my magazine and Q magazine.

I have also thought about distribution I have noticed how Apps have became more popular over recent years and that music magazine Apps can be purchased cheaply.I believe this is a great way of distributing my magazine as it is more flexible for the reader they will be able to look at the app on their own terms when they feel they want to.

Evaluation question 2

How dose you media product represent particular social groups?
I have chosen some magazine covers that I believe have similar quality's to my text.
This cover of Rolling Stones magazine with Adele as the cover model is similar to the way
my model is presented in regards to the pose,the shot is close up.Adele has her lips parted slightly and is looking straight ahead linking to my photo.However I believe that my cover is portraying a happy girl through the use of styling and coloured makeup,her hair doesn't fill the full frame which allows a glimpse of clothing to be seen.Her clothing seems to be bright and creates a younger feel there for I believe that this would appeal to a to a younger audience as the colours are youthful unlike Rolling Stones that have a darker cover.I have offed a potential female role model through a young girl that is full of confidence allowing the female reader the opportunity to aspire to and look up to another female.

I think That the Q magazine cover that also features Adele is similar to my product through the use of colour I think the positioning of the photo is similar to mine.I have noticed that Adele has her hand on her face where as my model has her hand placed on her Jacket.I believe that this shows that my product has aspects similar to personal magazines as the photos are very directed so that the pose is right.I think that because I have placed my models hand on her jacket instead of face she looks more confident.

I have created this Animoto to help me show the nine frames I have selected to help me answer evaluation question one.

Looking at the masthead saying "S"(which stands for sound)

was inspired by Q magazine,the fact it is only one letter allows the name  of the magazine to stick in the readers head.I also noticed while doing most magazines such as NME place the masthead over the top of the models head which is which is something I considered but decided against as I felt that my main image should be the focus of the page.By doing this it creates a sense of importance towards the name of the magazine.The font I used is called Haettenscheller which creates a very

bold and eye catching look to the masthead  around my masthead I have used an effect to make it look like it is jumping out at you like many professional music magazines do.The Colour Red is used because it is suitable for both male and female but is also used on lots of professional magazines.

Looking at the Mise-en-sene of the images of Abby on in my contents and double page  it is clear that she is a young girl posing in various ways which suggest she has attitude and is full of confidence this would relate to the fact that she is on the cover of a magazine.she looks very Glamorous and is wearing  lots of make up.When comparing this to other products I  realised that there are a lot of similarity's between both mine and the professional products because they both show women looking strong,confident,independent and beautiful.They are always wearing makeup and posing which attracts people into buying the magazine.I believe that my image relates to the Genre of POP because of the type of the model used which makes you think young,hip and fashionable which would not be a typical convention of for instance a Rock magazine.

My main Double page inspiration.

I was inspired to set out my photos because I felt inspired by a Double page spread I saw in Now magazine.I really liked the idea of having my photos in black and white as the story is about a wide child who really seeks to be taken seriously.I feel that by making my photos black and white I have added a sense of glamour to the picture.The layout itself is extremely pleasing visually.

Sell Lines on Q Magazine

This is the sell lines on my front cover.Through research I have noticed that listing sell lines in this way is a typical convention of magazines.In my opinion placing the sell lines in this way allows the main image to take precedence but also makes the magazine look more attractive resulting in it being more eye catching to the reader.By listing sell lines I found I could put more of the contents on the front cover which would allow a potential reader the opportunity to gain a good in site into the main story's within the magazine.This would also make more people buy the magazine as a it is more likely that something on the list will interest them.

 

I created a section of my contents page for subscription's I believe that by doing this my magazine looks more professional as most music magazines have discounts and special offers which encourage reader to continue to purchase the magazine month after month.

I found this font on Da font and thought that I would use it to recreate a signature.I used the colour blue as I felt it linked nicely with my colour palette for my Double page spread and helped me keep my colour pallet constant thought.I think that by adding this to the Double Page Spread it gives a sense of youth.

 I used this as a heading on my contents page.when making my contents page I found that deciding on a colour was very difficult.As I deiced to make the heading a lighter red as I wanted it to link with the colour theme I had choice but felt that by making it lighter it added a seance of youth keeping the magazine looking young and fresh.

Anchoring-On my contents page I used images to help sell the story because when I carried out research into music magazines I noticed that this was a popular aspect of contents pages.The colour yellow was very useful when creating this as I used it as a highlighting tool to allow the important information to stand out.

I have included this image of a band as I noticed that lots of music magazines have more than one image within there contents page.The black and white is different to the other photos used which allow it to stand out.
